The Sucky Sisterhood Podcast (formerly Slaying The Stigma) is a series focused on changing the narrative of pregnancy and infant loss, one mother at a time. We highlight women and men who vulnerably share their perspective, their heart and their stories. By normalizing the conversation of pregnancy loss, we are collectively encouraging those in their healing journey and educating others who are unfamiliar with the issues surrounding miscarriage & infant loss.

In honor of Father's Day, we invited Clint Watkins to join us for a conversation about bereaved fatherhood. Clint also points to misconceptions of masculine grief, using Biblical examples of lament. Season 1: Episode 9 - Jenny Albers

Jenny Albers is a mother to two children on earth and two in heaven. After experiencing an ectopic pregnancy and a stillbirth, she found purpose in sharing her story with other women who have experienced loss. Jenny is the author of Courageously Expecting, a memoir meets devotional on the topic of pregnancy after loss. She is the founder of the Still Loved community, which exists to amplify the voices of loss parents and provide a community for those grieving the loss of a baby. Jenny calls South Dakota home, where she lives with her husband and two living children.

Season 1: Episode 7 - Hallie Scott

Even if we can’t see beyond the anger and deep sorrow right now, we CAN make it through this experience. Hallie Scott, MFT shares the story of her daughter Abby’s death, her healing process afterward and the challenging search for professional counseling. Once you hear her story, it’s no wonder she’s shifted her own counseling practice to helping couples navigate the unique grief of bereaved parents.

Alishia shares her story with us, starting from the very beginning of her journey from engineer and newlywed, to stillbirth survivor & pregnancy loss advocate. She is also the co-founder of SPACE, a miscarriage and infertility support network that provides space for women to connect, grieve and heal together.Having experienced multiple miscarriages herself, Anna can now be found regularly writing and speaking about miscarriage, infertility, grieving and holding onto hope when things are hard.

Candi Summers shares personal story with miscarriage, mental health and her healing process. Plus, you’ll learn more about her work combating infant & maternal mortality, and how the experience of grieving her daughter Olivie Juliana then traveled across the world to minister to another mother in Liberia.

Meet Leslie! She is a collegiate hall of fame soccer player who never saw the trials of motherhood coming. Today, she’s a nurse, a teacher and a mom of 3 beautiful children. During our interview, you’ll hear the story of her journey through a complex diagnosis, mourning the loss of her beautiful son, Hayes and the intricacies of navigating through pregnancy after loss.

Listen as Rachel Lohman shares her story of how she and her husband Mark lost their first baby to miscarriage. When she shared her miscarriage story publicly, Rachel was amazed at how many women of all ages and backgrounds came forward with their own stories of grief and finding the road to hope again.
